Lately, it seems we’ve been making lots of fun updates to our home. One room in particular has needed some attention… New carpet to be specific! Our upstairs media room is a space I don’t share often, but ironically, it’s where we spend a lot of our time. You know wherever we are, our lovable furry friends, Paisley and Angel are right there with us! If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ve seen these two often!
They both turn five this year and keep us plenty busy with their constant shedding, but having them as a part of our family is totally worth it! Finding something pet friendly and durable (especially in a room they frequent) was very important to us! When I learned all the benefits of the PetProof carpet collection at The Home Depot, I knew it was the one… Especially since it’s specifically designed to be “pet proof.” It has 0% moisture absorption, which cuts down on pet odor; NanolocTM spill and soil shield for easy cleanup and it’s 3x easier to clean dirt and dander, which is a huge plus when you have two kids and two long haired pets!
This PetProof carpet was also installed on our stairs, leading up to the media room. We knew with the kid’s rooms being upstairs and all the traffic they receive on a daily basis that this was a smart move. Dirty feet, soiled shoes and who knows what else will no doubt happen, so I’m glad we have this durable carpet!
I’m in love with the feel and texture of this carpet! It’s incredibly soft and the pattern we chose is very pretty! We went with the Sawyer 0635D cut and loop pattern in the color Bare. PetProof carpet is available in many patterns and colors – Choosing the pattern was easy, as I knew I wanted a diamond pattern. The Home Depot has a wonderful display of carpet samples that you can take home and try out with your color palette. I love the color and pattern and the nice contrast it gives with the existing flooring.
These two have tested it out many times… Not only is it “pet proof,” but they also approve and so do we! The memory foam padding we chose is amazing and makes laying on this carpet so cozy!

Are there any more specifics on the padding? Is there just one memory foam or several grades to that? I have not been to Home Depot to look yet.
Hi Marcie… I chose a Tempur-Pedic memory foam padding that Home Depot offers! It’s wonderful and I can really tell a difference between other carpets in my home. Hope that helps!

Great information! We’re looking to get new carpet.! Although my mother had kept the carpet & entire house immaculate!.. It’s been over 30 years & with our new BIG boy, 75lb standard poodle, this carpeting & memory foam padding seems perfect! Just wanted to say “thank you!!!” 💟🐾

Hi Alicia, I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. My 2 dogs are a Beautiful German Shepherd and a Rat Terrier and my daughter and her two boys have a Pitbull as friendly as a newborn kitten, and a 15 or 16 year old cat. When you say accidents happen, well they certainly do around here. My 15 lb terrier seems to run the house and literally scares the “ you-no-what” out of the Pitbull, Not the wet stuff either. Sorry for the graphics! The carpet in my home is original from 1999 and cheap so certainly needs replaced. Since I was planning on selling my home and letting the new owners change it out, professionally cleaned before sale of course, but now seeing this beautiful carpet and I love the Diamond Oattern as well, I think I am also going to purchase it in a nice light color emphasizing that it is such a wonderful pet-friendly product.

what color are you wood floors? I’m torn with trying to find the right colors…lighter, darkers….so hard!
Hi LauraBeth… I’d definitely go lighter! I regret the dark walnut floors we have downstairs. They show dog hair, dry grass and footprints. We went with a lighter wood floor upstairs and love it!
Can you let me know if this carpet has a good tight weave??Asking bc part of being pet friendly for us we need a carpet that will not “pick or snag” I have seen carpet that can snag if puppy teeth or something else gets caught and pulled while playing. Really kids or pets could cause this problem😩 we just loved and are wanting to replace the upstairs carpet with something super durable but also attractive- hoping what you have suggested will meet our needs!
Hi Sara… It’s been well over 6 months and I’m happy to say it truely has been pet friendly for us. We have a golden retriever and long haired cat. Our dog loves to spread out and has never snagged the carpet doing so. I hope this helps with your decision.
